Where Is It Used?
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are most often used on crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines, lip lines, lines around the chin and corners of the mouth as well as for creating a "lip flip". Individuals who suffer from profuse sweating also have seen benefits from Botox.
How Is It Administered?
Injections only takes a few minutes and doesn’t require any type of anesthesia. A very fine needle is inserted into specific muscles being treated. The material being used is prepared fresh on the day of the injection. It takes just half a second to inject. The number of units will vary depending on the strength of the muscle and the extent of the wrinkles/lines being treated.
Generally, it takes three to seven days before it takes full effective. Effects generally will take three to four months. As the muscle action returns, the lines and wrinkles will begin to reappear and need to be treated again.
Discomfort is minimal and only lasts a short period of time. You can return to your daily life right after your appointment.
Important Instructions to Follow Before & After Treatment
Do not take aspirin or any type of NSAID one week before and 1 day after treatment. Remain upright for at least four hours after treatment. Exercise the injected muscles several times every 15 minutes for four hours after treatment. Do not perform vigorous exercise for four hours after treatment.
After two weeks, if you feel you have an incomplete response, you may to schedule a touch-up appointment. This will generally require less units than the original treatment. This is not often required, as our practitioners are experts.
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are used medically to treat certain muscular conditions, and cosmetically to treat wrinkles by temporarily weakening muscles. It is made from a neuromodulator called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
