The first step of the appointment is to thoroughly cleanse the skin and then apply the topical numbing cream. You will numb for approximately thirty minutes, prior to treatment. Once the time has expired, the numbing cream is removed and the skin is again thoroughly cleansed. After cleansing, the provider will rub the skin with a liquid hyaluronic acid (HA) and begin the treatment. The HA is simultaneously rubbed into the skin, allowing the needles to glide over the skin and provide concentrated hydration to the area.
Depending the number of areas being treated, the appointment can take between 30 minutes to over an hour, not including numbing time.

Who is/is not a good candidate for microneedling?
Benefits and results are seen over time as the skin heals and collagen is begins to build. Given proper sun protection and home care exfoliation, results can be seen for long periods of time. Touch up treatments are recommended every year.
Microneedling is a great option for those wanting laser skin resurfacing but looking for an option with little to no down time. Microneedling removes the top layer of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin growth, while smoothing the skin, shrinking pores and scarring, evening hyperpigmentation, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles and more. Best results are seen with three to five treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart. RENEW offers add-on serums to promote optimal healing and even promote lightening of areas affected by melasma. Microneedling is also a great skin maintenance procedure and can be done once per year after the initial series.
